I kind of like the idea of each type of damage having its own unique damage type or ability. However instead of explosive doing damage over a variety of systems what about a splash damage effect. So are we to assume that if it doesn't have a bonus or a penalty then the weapon does full damge? Also How many weapons/armor are we going to have? That is a good point. However we will have custom races. Not Moo3 custom, but completely custom. Humans will only be expected to be good at metal ships in the Single Player "Grand Campaign." I agree with Impaler. If we make a races ships be heavilly armored, meaning that they will have the best armor at the end of the game. They will have an inherent advantage.
