IMHO breadman. Each apllication needs a Refine or Refine to lvl x button though. Oh and it would be great, if hovering over an application would give additional information, like Laser: refined till lvl 15, may use continuous, autofire and long range focusing mod.

Ranos, you repeat, and repeat, and repeat. But what you fail to see is the mayor error in your strategy definiition: Ranos wrote: When I say 'strategy,' I mean the decision making process of deciding between different things. When I say 'a strategy' or 'your strategy' or 'their strategy,' I mean the...

Prokonsul, ALL gouvernments are prone to those problems. A very strict centralized dictatorship might even have an easier time to gouvern a large populace. If you look at the major terran nations, they are all barely withstanding civil unrest. And it doesn't make any difference if its a communist st...

Guigui, you are naive :).

Why do you think has the us army still its listening posts at the Harz mountains, long after communist east germany was merged into the (at that time) pro-american wets-germany? But modern day politics are a no-no at this forii, so lets stop it ;).

Don't worry, they learned from that "Steve Jackson Games Inccident". For those that don't know that inccident: Steve Jackson Games is designing sophisticated games, most notably the G(eneric) U(niversal) R(oleplaying) S(ystem). "In 1990, Steve Jackson Games was raided by the U.S. Secret Se...

I'm utterly against a limit on designs. I prefer a library of designs, containing hundreds, maybe thousands of designs. This will serve a greater immersion AND give the fan base something to do. PS: and it will be a way to give the profi players an edge over the newbies. But an edge that a medium sk...

@Ranos: sorry for my harsh words, but some of us explained severall times clearly what refinement is. And you seemed to ignore that completely for a few pages of this thread. So my assumption was that you either couldn't understand it, or deliberately choose to force your opinion on us. So I reminde...

OK, so it seems most agree that some kind of social factor (morale/loyality/unrest) should be in, which the player can influence by spending money on it to reduce the negative outcomes. Whats about the economical part? I agree that it shouldn't be a flat reduction of the planets production, as such ...

Ranos wrote: If they can refine a weapon forever, then they will only research one or two weapons maybe three and refine those until the end of the game. So what? Ranos, again, this isn't Ranos Orion. If you don't like to play with the same weapons for the whole game: DON'T. If someone else sees th...

OK, lets summ it up: Humans invented the theory of ranged weapons at the very day someone throw a stone. Many thousand years later they developed the sling, spear, crude bows. Lotsa fine applications. Most of them used simultaneously for different purposes. Even if all those weapons where the "same"...

But then you need "experience watering down". So if you move a crew, it should part of its exp. If we want an easy way, we make it dependant on "prize" of the ships only. This assumes that more expensive ships are either bigger (meaning the old crew forms part of a much larger, inexperienced crew), ...

??? You don't know what a complex design is, right? I'd like it if the complex design would take a normal user ard. 2-5 mins to design a ship that is decent (for example to get a mostly complete library for the easy design). If someone would choose to design a well rounded ship thats better then the...
