I think that ship characteristics should maybe be race specific rather than specific to the ships themselves. For example Silicoids (who could have the asteroid type ships) may have +10% armour strength for their ships. However I do agree that lots of variation in ship design would be really cool, ...

*nod* the smaller stars look like the way to go. I was hoping to create large animated stars to go along with the animated planets on the sidebar: http://home.earthlink.net/~drekmonger/startest2.avi But, the star is generated by a particle system. Haven't figured out a good way to make it loop yet....

i like moo3 stlye of ground combat well some what and moo2s. but we could make a completely interactive battle plan showing the battle. step 1 plan make a line and bend it to show the plans your troops will move to and make a red line to show where to fire.your computer will try to make a simulatio...

Well, I think MOO2 handled it pretty well, and it never bothered me to be last at a point (though it does give you that warm, fuzzy feeling when you go up the scale in time).
