BTW my main motivation in suggesting this was to make the eXpansion phase easier by letting the player see where the empty planets are without too much clicking.
Perhaps a better way to do this is a planets browser ala moo2, with ability to sort by enviroment and travel time.

Yeah, maybe a 'string of pearls' type look.

Perhaps BUG and SUG could be groups (instead of versions currently, which I mostly left blank)
[edit] hmm OK more obvious way of doing it is to have suggestions submitted as feature requests (separate tracker system).

I'll start on this.
[edit] done.
I had problems with some of the categorisations, particularly interface/client. Hopefully it all still makes sense.
Some of the items are more suggestions than bugs, I tried to leave in everything though.

Yeah, I stole the idea from moo3. It's not like they were the first to think of pie charts though :) Also in moo3 you had to click on the system first to get the ring, I'd do it slightly differently.

map window UI

As well as coloring the system name, it'd be nice to have an indication of how many planets each player has colonised in each system. I'm thinking of a thin ring around the star on the map window, which is a pie chart (with the centre of the pie taken out :) ) showing number of planets occupied by p...

4: You shouldn't be able to see planets in unexplored systems. Need a nice "Unexplored" bitmap to stick into the sidebar. (also, maybe system names should be hidden or greyed out on unexplored systems--makes it easier to tell which has been scouted) I'd suggested unexplored systems have their names...

(Actually, I find the splash screen tween turns jarring. It would be better to have just a small status box in the top center of the screen. Esp. important during multiplayer games: players should be able to continue chatting and looking at their empire's state between turns.) Totally agree with th...

Modelling arrival times to fractions of a turn, giving prioriy to those who got there first would be good. [pedantic] Doesn't that just depend on where the colony ship started from, which is ultimately determined by where your home system is, which is, err, random? [/pedantic] Coin toss just seems ...

As discussed above: -in mp when both players choose to colonise the same planet in the same turn, the second client crashes. How about doing colonisation last thing in between turns? * no need to deal with colony ships destroyed in combat * newly built colony ships can choose to colonise in system (...

vorenhutz wrote:-sending combat ships to undefended enemy systems will crash one of the clients on a new turn (combat in empty systems works).
This problem also seems to be fixed by noelte's changes to UniverseObject.cpp.

Another possibility is artifacts left by extinct or transcended races. Sheffield's Heritage series explores this idea http://books.fantasticfiction.co.uk/n2/n10598.htm?authorid=2641 . Control of an artifact could give distinct advantages wihout knowing how it works or how to reproduce it. This would...

-view of the other player's fleets and planets is not updated (one player colonises a planet with starting fleet, the other player sees the starting fleet orbiting an empty planet). You are talking about multiplayer? I can see the problem, you can't determine if a planet is colonized at the same tu...

-'Multiplayer hotseat' sort of works. Start freeoriond.exe and run freeorion.exe twice. Have one client host a game, and the other join it. Problems start when task switching between the two clients (both clients in fullscreen mode). mouse and display aren't in synch, and seem to move around randoml...
