For gravity I want either a simple system (I'm happy with the MOO2 one) or no gravity at all. I don't feel that we need to get complex on this.

Sounds plausible. We can put it on our sourceforge webspace.

What's normally done? Perhaps we could ask another project on their forums why - such as the Celestia project: http://www.shatters.net/forum/

Off memory, they don't include configure. I think it's pretty normal not to include it in cvs from my experience, but I could be wrong.

Re Mr_Ed: Yes, they could counter the effects by working out, but they'd have to work out a lot (costs a lot of time) and THAT is what causes the main part penalty here. (Imho) Re Utilae: 500 years or 500 Million years would not make a difference unless they do something radical. Unless you kill of...

Slightly off the topic of the current conversation... It could be fun if troops were landed manually if in combat with an enemy fleet at a planet. If you destroy all their forces you can land all your troops - but you may want a quick drop and take over the planet before their ships have time to sto...

Hmm, that's a great pest. We made that change so that it would run on a linux computer without X needing to be run.

Anyway, I've committed this change for now. Hopefully we can find a solution to allow the running of the server without X needing to be running.

Thanks for spotting the problem.

Sounds like casus belli - how much cause for war have against you - which we were unofficially basing our diplomatic aspirations on (such as from Europa Universalis 2)

And is it possible it's part of a change to GG network code? If so, I won't be able to backtrack changes on that. GG is a GUI library; it is totally unrelated to the networking code. I thought there was some network code in it, such as fastevents - stored in the GG code and not the FreeOrion code? ...

I thought that might be the case (out of time), but I was hoping it wasn't :) I'll take a look this weekend and see what I can find out (Friday arvo for me at the moment). Do you think it's the result of a change for the server, or the client? And is it possible it's part of a change to GG network c...

Just was thinking about your idea of making mineral richness a special, drek. I didn't like it, because I saw specials as something 'extra', that weren't a part of the initial plan or something big and important. Then I realised, we could make gravity as a compulsory special. We could describe many ...

It's good, yes. It doesn't really make sense having huge planets with low gravity, eh? I was thinking "Well, maybe that's because they're spinning faster." That wouldn't have an effect though, either, would it? Isn't gravity related to density as far as we know? So you could have a huge planet made...
