Diplomacy and happyness effects

I have a proposal for how diplomacy and happiness would work, here it is. So, in order to communicate with one another, you'd need to research the "universal translator" tech, which would allow for communication. For you to be able to have an alliance with another empire, you'd need to have a certai...

Re: Game music

The music has a feel of impending doom. Could it be made a bit more optimistic?

No end?

There seems to be this problem with the game not ending when all enemy empires have been defeated. Is this still missing or did an enemy ship slip by my ship stack of doom?

I've invaded all planets of my opponent, so he should be defeated. However, the game does not end.

Re: late game colonization/invasion nerf

Well, it seems to me extremely unreal that (for example) a species from a tundra or aquatic world can survive on an inferno world, that's just ridiculous! It would need some hefty solution for that. Besides, there's already a planet type most species cannot colonize: gas giants. But you can always b...

late game colonization/invasion nerf

In the late game it's possible to colonize all planet types and all planet sizes with your species. Why not making it so that your species is only capable of colonizing a certain size (range) of planets (due to gravity), this nerfs the late game in which you just colonize everything you can lay your...

Re: Starbases

Regardless of whether it's been mentioned before a couple of times ( :) ), it's good to have a structure that extends supply range and is able to defend itself.

Starbases

I noticed that this game doesn't contain starbases. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to build such things? The starbase could be just another hull, but is required to be brought to its location (where it'll spend the remainder of its life) by a special cargo ship (basically, the thing builds the starb...

Re: Revamp Exobots and flat bonuses

What Stellaris does with something similar to this is that the robots might revolt and start attacking everyone, forcing everyone to cooperate. So, why not give the exobots a collective mind on the world they are sent to work on? Eventually, with enough exobots located on the planet, the exobots mig...

Re: Influence, Species and Minds

Some ideas for technologies: Indoctrination : Unlocks the "Indoctrination center" , which is a building that hardens the planet it's built on against enemy influence. It helps control the populace of a planet through indoctrination with desired thought patterns to the individuals which are troubleso...

Re: Roadmap for next release

Regarding influence, I'd like to see planets, ships and fleets be able to defect because of influence. There could be new technologies and buildings introduced which increase your influence and/or decrease the opponent's influence. There could, for example, be a building that prevents defection of s...

Re: Game's sloooooooow

Thanks for the replies.

I've got one question, though. How do I enable binary serialization? In the settings I see something about "Create binary save files", but nothing to enable binary serialization.

Game's sloooooooow

So, I'm currently playing a map with 1000 stars (I like a huge universe :D ), researched all techs (I like to turtle) and when trying to play the game everything... well... takes about a second to actually happen. Is there a memory leak somewhere or something? In early game it didn't take all that l...

Re: Prevent disclosure information via empire statistic

Why not make it simple? You only see statistics on empires you have actually discovered. When espionage gets added, this becomes a requirement too to see the statistics.

Diplomacy? Espionage? Trade?

Hello, I have researched everything there was to research in the tech tree, but there doesn't seem to be any option for diplomacy, espionage/sabotage or trade. Have I missed anything that actually does any of these? NOTE: I am completely new to freeorion. If I posted this in the wrong subforum, I'm ...

Maximum empire size

This idea is simple in nature, but can make the game more interesting. The basic idea is that you cannot expand beyond a certain size before you upgrade your home world's government center (the palace, if you will). The idea is very simple: you cannot control more then n planets where n is dependent...
