Re: the Ur-Quan Masters

Try it! I played Starcontrol II on an amiga with joystick... a long long time ago. And I player "the Ur-Quan Masters" some months ago, its a very good "reincarnation". The interface of "the Ur-Quan Masters" is quite simple (4-direction-keys + 2 Action keys), but you need to know the keyboard binding...

Re: Problems compiling freeorion on FreeBSD 7

Then I would say that this problem is related to the fact that you use an ATI card. Another problem could be, that nvidias Cg is needed (on ATI systems too!) but not available for FreeBSD.

What do your logfiles for X say to that? Maybe its a question of permission to access the X-Display?

Re: Problems compiling freeorion on FreeBSD 7

I read interesting things on this thread: https://www.crystalspace3d.org/forum/index.php?topic=1510.0 The "kernel per process data size limit" is an interesting point. I encountered simuilar problems on OpenSuSE systems in one project and had to increase such limits (ulimit on linux systems). Maybe ...

Re: Statically linked Linux-version

These binaries have been tested on Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty, Debian Lenny, and may work on other distributions as well. Make sure you have OpenGL 2 or later, or you will likely get segmentation faults. Ubuntu 8.10, Debian 4.0 Etch and Debian Sid are Working as well. It could be mentioned that FreeOrion r...

Re: Intel 965GM on Linux

First of all, as Geoff said, it would be usefull to know which version you installed.

The string "2.0 Mesa 7.4" sounds like you are not having an accelerated openGL 2.0, but a software renderer. But maybe I am wrong at this point.

Re: Running latest nighty build freeorion_rev2983_i386_static.ta

There's a file $HOME/.freeorion/ogre.log - could you upload this too? There are known problems with ATI cards, which we could not identify to 100% - maybe your card is not working. Does an earlier release of FreeOrion run, like v0.3.11? See here: https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_i...

Re: Running latest nighty build freeorion_rev2983_i386_static.ta

Seems that you are missing GLX support.

Can you execute "glxinfo" in a command line? If yes, please upload the result of its output here.

Which graphic card do you have?

Re: libtiff needed in FreeOrion / GiGi?

The config header on linux systems is created dynamically - no one would expect to hack a parameter there. On my build-system I now just deinstalled libtiff, so the dependency should not be used any more in my static build. Nevertheless, maybe GiGi should be extendet to support deactivating usage of...

libtiff needed in FreeOrion / GiGi?

Simple question: is libtiff needed in FreeOrion? If not, I could turn of tiff support and save some bytes and annoying issues according libtiff 4 on some linux distros.

Re: Statically linked Linux-version

The next release I will deliver a libtiff.so with the package. Could you try this package here:
http://freeorion.psitronic.de/download/ ... tic.tar.gz

Different GiGi libs need libtiff - maybe this dependency can be turned of if tiff is not used?

It someone owns such a console, than it would be interesting to get FreeOrion working there... but the chance that we find such a person is very low I think.

Re: Blurred screen

Run nvidia-settings and try configuring parameters there.

You could try:

Code: Select all

Antialiasing Settings - Override Application Setup - Off

Anisotropic Filtering - Override Application Setup - Value 1
Other options may also help, but I don't know their effects.

Re: FreeOrion|linux grabs mouse focus - how to release?

There's a file GG/src/Ogre/Plugins/OISInput.cfg in FreeOrion repository - if that is copied into the application directory / current working directory, disabling grabbing works. Thanks Geoff.

/Edit: the file also exists in FreeOrion svn root directory. I'll deliver that with the next release.
