Re: Statically linked Linux-version

I just managed to package a version that should run many actual linux distributions. http://freeorion.psitronic.de/download/FreeOrion-0.3.12.1-Linux-i386.tar.gz This version was compiled on debian 5.0 (lenny). For compatibility reasons, many shared libs are shipped with this package. If anybody thin...

FreeOrion|linux grabs mouse focus - how to release?

If running freeorion in windowed mode, it grabs the mouse and never releases it. If freeorion gets freezed, a normal user won't be able to kill it and has to reset his machine. How can the tech-demo be closed if you never get the mouse out of the client area? The only way of killing it is shwitching...

Re: Plugin_CgProgramManager needed?

One after another - first it should be clear IF modern ATI cards support Cg - if answer to this is no, then many people will not be able to use FreeOrion at all.

Re: Plugin_CgProgramManager needed?

Would be interesting to know if modern ATI cards support Cg. Maybe those having "Vertex texture fetch: yes" do so?

Puh. Thats hard to hear. And not really an satisfying answer, as this graphic chip is even a never one than my nvidia chip.

Re: Segfault on running FreeOrion in linux

Maybe we should open another discussion thread for those topics instead of posting them here?

For me the question should be: how can we have FreeOrion run on more platforms - currently, the limitation to nvidia chipsets seems not to be a good way.

Re: Segfault on running FreeOrion in linux

It was always "mostly statically linked" as far as I was aware... (although this does make it significantly less so...).. Of course, but the only dependencies where /usr/lib/libGL and similar libs, which naturally cannot be linked statically, because with different graphic card drivers come differe...

Re: Segfault on running FreeOrion in linux

You were absolutely right - I forgot to install nvidia drivers im my debian lenny chroot enviroment. The game now runs again - but is still NOT working on ATI graphic cards. So - maybe now I will be able to release a new statically linked package - although not any more this should be called statica...

Re: Segfault on running FreeOrion in linux

Currently I am buildings the plugin. The homepage of Cg Toolkit mentions other OpenGL compatible cards, so maybe it runs on ATI cards too. The problem ist - which licensing does the nvidia Cg toolkit use? Is freeorion allowed to release versions containing this plugin? Somebody should check that bef...

Re: Segfault on running FreeOrion in linux

Are you sure that this is a fact? The fact that this module is listed in ogre_plugins.cfg does not automatically mean that it is needed.

Maybe tzlaine can answer this question?

Re: [SOLVED] Assertion `insert_successful' failed.

The problem was NOT freeorion but OGRE configured/built with parameter CPPFLAGS=-DOGRE_STATIC_LIB - rebuilding OGRE without that did the trick.
