Re: System & Pedia multicolours

Yeah, I'm not observing names splitting colours either. I didn't even know that was supposed to happen, but I had been wishing it did.

Re: Revised Stargate mechanics

If it's many to many, one could also create it so that a) everyone can use every visible Stargate as a jump target, but b) not necessarily as a jump source. This way, you could use an enemy stargate to get a fleet into the enemy empire, but not back out. I don't think it's a good idea for different...

Re: AI colony valuation planning

Although the Suitability Report tries to shutdown object signalling to be more efficient, it seems that it still doesn't quite 100% succeed, or something about the manner that Effects are applied is still tremendously inefficient. Something we want to address prior to 0.4.5...? I doubt it. The AI i...

Re: Compile error in SitRepPanel.cpp

What version of C++ is your compiler targeting? I wonder if it's a c++ 11 incompatibility, or just MSVC being overly liberal. Try this: std::istringstream ss(saved_template_string); std::copy( std::istream_iterator<std::string>(ss), std::istream_iterator<std::string>(), std::inserter(result, result....

Re: AI colony valuation planning

Just looking at the code that was altered by the PR, it looks like the AI basically does its own "Suitability Report" for planets. Would it be helpful to expose the "real" C++ suitability report to the python code so it can be used directly?

Re: Field upgrades, especially for weapons

So if we ever have refinements that aren't just damage increases, we will need to add a part meter for that refinement? For example if we wanted some kind of "shield-piercing laser" refinement, we would need to add a "shield-piercing" part meter to use for the damage calculation, which only increase...

Re: Revised Stargate mechanics

It might be an interesting drawback if any empire could traverse your stargates. Then there would be more emphasis on protecting that resource, and a tradeoff between allowing your ships to get to the front lines faster and risking enemy ships getting to your core worlds through your stargate. And i...

Saving hidden sitrep options

It's a huge pain in the neck to re-hide all the sitrep types I don't care about every time I start FO, so I decided to save the hidden sitrep templates in the OptionsDB. PR here . In particular, I'm wondering if there's a better way of saving the set in the options DB. Since it uses lexical_cast, I ...

Re: Bio-Weapons

I could comment it out, but it's literally just 4 lines of removing 'HasTag name = "ORGANIC"', plus minor changes to the descriptions. I don't think it will be difficult to add back in later.

Bio-Weapons

Realism aside, there's literally no reason for these weapons to only apply to organic species, and it makes the techs useless. If there are no objections, I'm going to change them to work on all species.

World Tree description

It says it was planted by the "Curators" in ancient times. Is that meant to refer to the precursor race the Caretakers (as in "Caretaker's Fruit")?

Re: Python scripted turn events

TBH, I've always thought ALL_EMPIRES was a ridiculous name for that constant. Everywhere I've seen it used, it really means something closer to NO_EMPIRE.
