Re: Freeorion built from svn (rev 3209) locks up whole console

It may be also problem in intel graphic driver. There was a lot of development in this area on linux and in some versions this driver was buggy. Your graphic card may also not support some OpenGL extensions.

Re: Can't apply OS X patches

FreeOrion on Linux has problem with gcc and g++ in version 4.2. Install gcc 4.3 or change default compiler to suggested 4.0. Also check your installed boost. It should be at least in version 1.36. I don't know how.

I don't have intel graphic card, but with binary nvidia on Linux I had same problem. Problem was in damaged driver(opengl screensaver is OK?) which needs reinstall.

Short for fleet window(and possibly the internal name for it in code?).

Re: Laundry-List of Bugs/Glitches I Noticed

On my amd 3200+ 1Gb RAM WinXP (500 stars 10 AIs) i'm looking at "Downloading New Game State..." for at least 2-3 minutes!!! and my Task Manager shows memory usage of above 3Gb! (500Mb without FO) :o so i guess "Python" is the other name for some "Ultimate Evil" :) I have also similar amd 30...

Anyone know how to fix this?
Install gcc and g++ 4.3, but I don't know how in Mac OS X

Now the application segfault when starting, not leaving any kind of logs behind. I have read somewhere else that ATI cards owners are out of luck? From now on, I guess my problem is using the dri_r300 driver. Too bad, my cause is desperate. Problem is maybe not in ATI cards. There is thread about t...

Re: Can't apply OS X patches

Information on this page are outdated. Only download from sourceforge development environment for Mac and update project from svn. I can't test it because I don't have Mac, but recently it was fully functional.

To check memory leaks is good valgrind. Memory leaks are not only in FreeOrion, but also in libraries which FreeOrion uses and this tool is in common use among C++ developers.

Re: v0.4 Interim Combat Window

It's more likely that the player would just give the general orders "Protect the Colony Ship", "Capture as many ships as possible", "Destroy the Battlestation" and "Scan the Planet" and the ships that are best equipped for each task will automatically carry it out. This will also, AFAIK, be necessa...

Re: v0.4 Interim Combat Window

I wonder if battle resolution could occur in an actual battle, not shown to the player, controlled by AIs? Yes. AI have to know predict probable result of battle between 2 ships and between 2 fleets to predict threats. I realize it would take a lot more time (though by the time this game comes out,...

Re: 0.3.13 crashes on start (centos 5.3 amd64)

You should compile FreeOrion yourself or wait for another release with builtin boost 1.38. i'll try but its almost desperate. As it means compiling boost, ogre (dont forget nvidia stuff) and god knows what else. Also concerning that "eventfd" feature. Wiki says To avoid this incompatibility, you ca...

Re: 0.3.13 crashes on start (centos 5.3 amd64)

Post your logs from .freeorion. Centos is Red Hat, but FreeOrion 0.3.13 was not tested on it. Probably you have to compile FreeOrion yourself.

EDIT: According internet problem is fixed with boost 1.38. You should compile FreeOrion yourself or wait for another release with builtin boost 1.38.

Re: Laundry-List of Bugs/Glitches I Noticed

g) On the research screen, after you queue up a tech, it will say "1 turn @ 640 RP" (or something similar) in the lower left corner. It will also say "n turns" in the lower right corner. Unfortuately, the end of the former overlaps the beginning of the latter. The end result is that you can't read ...
