Re: Suggestion: Split script files into directories

Starting buildings are directly queried from python here, but I don't see that being an issue if it is not one in master.

This possible workaround(windows concerns) for a race in vc++12 was put in server wmain, but it may be better suited in either human client or all 3.

Re: Suggestion: Split script files into directories

the files keep reappearing... This is an issue with my chosen ide not adding them to the commit, simple to overcome once I figured out the problem. Keep script files as .txt please. Will do! Should it ignore certain filenames? e.g. readme.txt Did now also a quick test on Windows, builds and runs ok...

Re: Python API reference documentation

Brought up Doxygen since it is already setup for GG

https://github.com/freeorion/freeorion/ ... oxyfile.in

re: hosting, link to github/freeorion/freeorion/doc/index.html and then only update on release builds?
Unless that is against some TOS or bandwidth considerations.

Make sure not to comment out any designs listed in default/starting_fleets.txt as well.

Re: Python API reference documentation

Maybe I don't understand the issue, is Doxygen not suitable?

If it absolutely needs to be in a wiki page, there is https://github.com/Coburn37/DoxygenMediawikiBot
Though I dont know if the setup would be worthwhile compared to just linking the doxygen output.

Not certain if Logistics would pose a problem for AI (haven't looked into it yet). Re: Chato default focus

Industry is the default unless the species has a preferred focus, which grants a happiness bonus where they use it.
Etty have a research preference but are no better than average.

The pedia will show if a species has a preferred focus, just before listing the environment preferences.

Re: I need a challenge!

Throwing flat numbers or extra turns sounds like it would be difficult to keep up with. Not just for the player but even more for those doing the balancing. If a handicap is applied, a percentage of the human or top players output could be easier, even as a stop gap. 'AI value' += 'Human value' * 'A...

Re: Beginner Game Hints

As it is not interactive, would a randomized sitrep message work for this? Then a simple right click could hide them in bulk(if they can share the label).

Re: Suggestion: Split script files into directories

Curious if anyone has thoughts to improving this, or if it needs a different method entirely(and that's fine too). As it stands, I am not seeing a huge in load times when buildings.txt is split: (simple boost::timer -> DebugLogger() in parse::parse_file) master: load /home/dbenage/projects/freeorion...

Re: Suggestion: Split script files into directories

Hard-coded file names/directories I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. ...If you're talking about making those configurable: I don't think that's a good idea at all. Changing the instances of (e.g.) "techs.txt", possibly just GetResourceDir("tech") so it can easily call from python as well, ot...

Suggestion: Split script files into directories

My suggestion here is to allow script entries to load from multiple files, organized by directory. By splitting these entries, it may allow for faster and less error-prone changes. My hope here, is that this would lead to loading user dir overrides and mods. I'd like to see stringtables tackled as w...
