Rob, I like your classifications, though I doubt they will be adopted.

The I only thing I am wondering is that if a race can live inside a sun, ie not hurt by the extreeme heat of the sun, then how would weapons be able to hurt them. They would have to be hit with disassociative weaponry, like molecular cutter. Something that destroys the bonds between molecules Or if...

Actually with all the fan-hacks MOO3 is much better. Still, quite a lot of work to get it to "tolerable"

Bah, immobile plants can still shot out seeds/spores into space.

In fact, the other Species could just regard them as weeds

I know that a lot of people are looking for something much more complex than this, but how about something like the kind of combat in X-com Terror from the deep? All it needed is for you to specify the kind of behaviour you wanted to use with your ship (with previous knowledge of your ship configur...

This is very good, I was thinking of something along those lines. It would be good to have the State Culture, which is the culture of the homeworld. If the perifery ever gets too far out of alignment they rebel and declare independence, with like-minded colonies joining together. The difference can ...

You are assuming FO will have the same, relatively flawed, combat engine as MOO3
Not assuming anything. In fact, I hope combat will be turn-based instead of RT.

Sandlapper, I think we are talking about different things. Take moo3 for example, huge map, terrible sensors, enemy in one corner you in the other. No cloaking, ECM, ECCM. By the time you find each other it's minutes of...fruitless flying around. I really don't want that. I hated that! I imposed 2 m...

erm... much of this seems like uneccessery and un-fun compllication. Who wants to run around the map for 5 minutes trying to locate the enemy??? I would prefer scanning to be abstracted, and maybe after being rolled give you an advantage on positioning (relative to the enemy) If you have sensors 100...

I am continuously amazed by the resilience of appologists. Moo3 sucked. It was not enjoyable. It is impossible to know what affect what and how at what time. Some techs are utterly useless (like ECM, ECCM, Cloaking). Combat map is too large, and early on, you can spend minutes just trying to find yo...

Yaromir (the name means 'spring-peace,' or 'spring-world,' right?) Hrm...you know a Slavic language? Yaro = Yarilo = Ancient Slavic god of the sun/sun itself (like Aton for Egyptians) Mir = world or peace, as you said. Yaromir = Sunny World :) I find your posts verrrrry englightening, not to mentio...

Wowie, you are good! Thank you very much!

And thank you for obliging me in my crazy request. I just wanted to see how it would all fit within a frame-work that I already know.

Thanks again! :)

You can't patch a bad game to be a good one.

Tolerable...probably, but not good.
