gentoo gigi ebuild

I've completed a hopefully working gigi ebuild, and it's already submitted to gentoo bugzilla - Bug 59218.
Please, test if it works if possible (as in "if you're a gentoo user").

GiGi

It looks like the work on GiGi has been resumed, as the cvs version doesn't compile on my pc at the moment with following error: g++ -pthread -D_REENTRANT -Wall -O2 -fPIC -I/usr/include/SDL -I/usr/include/freetype2 -Iinclude -Iinclude/net -Iinclude/SDL -Iinclude/dialogs -Ilibltdl -c -o src/GGApp.os ...

Um.. the SMAC design system would work for designing fighters (which obviously we wouldn't want to produce like normal ships - couse those tend to get effective when sent in large numbers, and noone wants to micro-manage that in the fleets) but not quite well with the larger ships. In my opinion, sh...

what moo3 does

What moo3 does is that if your builders have a higher "constructing power" than required to complete the current project, the overhead is used for the next project in queue (this caused me to have lots of those non-fighting army units, couse ai put them just after what i wanted to build and by that ...

just to visualize a bit what i had in mind when i thought of the carrier-towing ships: A carrier ship alone in space: http://img273.imageshack.us/img273/2459/carrierempty28xd.th.jpg I had no time, ability nor will to make a fancy model for the docking arm, so i've just put those boxes sticking out o...

The in-program solution would be simple : the fleet moves with the speed of the slowest unit in the fleet. It's always been that way. The speed of each vessel could be displayed in the fleet window next to it (in red if it's lower than the fastest ship in the fleet, so that the slowpokes could be ea...

The idea that one we have the technology, all ships magically use it is kind of ridiculous... So i guess that a two-step upgrade could be used for the interstellar engines: fist we research a new engine type, and have to refit ships to use it, but later with other advances in technology, we optimize...

How about doing it a bit Moo3 style? meaning to separate engines for in-system movement, and interstellar travel? We could then use both FTL (or nearly-as-fast-as-light) for interstellar travel, and 'conventional' for in-system movement (like ship-to-ship combat) but adding to the current, non-FTL s...

GiGi + scons + portage + sandbox = a headache

I've run into some problems regarding forcing scons (during GiGi compilation) to play nice with Gentoo intstalation scripts. It manages to make sandbox quite irate about it trying to write .sconsign files in several directories it's not supposed to... sandbox is sort of a secure pre-install envirome...

GiGi ...

I've found this project by complete accident, and yet it has captured my imagination. So, basically, i want to help out (i'm a novice c++ programmer - "novice" as in "i've never done any graphical apps whatsoever") So, i've tried to compile GiGi, with mixed results - first by make. When using it, my...
