Hmmm.... I suppose making AIs that can take the place of a crew would be a special tech you could research later in the game. I guess for game play purposes it'd work okay.

Instead, what we should use is inaccessable regions on the main galaxy map. We could have star clusters that can only be reached via starlanes or wormholes that are invisible until you research a particular technology. It would even be possible to cloak the stars themselves in that region until the...

It is an unusual question, but why should ships have crew? AI can aim better, move faster (even acelerate more), don't need quarters of any kind and don't need most usual supplies. Ships without crew don't need to dock inside bigger ships or any kind of docking more complex than a grappling hook. Y...

Regarding multiple-galaxy maps, unless there's a real significant reason why having separate galaxy would make things much more interesting, I doubt this will be implemented in the standard scenario or random-generated maps. It's more implementation complexity without much obvious benefit, aside fr...

Actually, here's a completely off-the-wall idea here, but what if the construction of a wonder was REQUIRED in order to develop a certain technology? This had been done in several strategy games already. The "Civilization" games come to mind. in them tech development is done in two ways. One: spend...

Hmmm.. After reading Skaro's ideas here's my thoughts: All chassis (frigate, cruiser, etc) have their own preset tonnage. But the ship is basicly empty until you fill up this max tonnage with: 1. Armor 2. A powerplant or multiple powerplants 3. Weapons 4. Engines (both system and FTL) 5. Other equip...

Ideas I had for additions to Stars!

Idea1: Multiple galactic maps The BG story for Stars! was that the universe was shattered in the aftermath of a war. So it made sense to me to have there be multiple fragments. Each could be a seperate galactic map similar to the main map that Stars! has. The number and size of the maps would be a f...

Just an idea obviously the game is going to have predefined races and possibly campaigns/stories to do with those races but since the current version of the game includes a map/universe generator why not allow users to create custom races using a set number of atribute points to keep balance. Keen ...

So there's no way to get a copy of Supernova? After enjoying Stars for a few years I was rather excited to hear about a sequel, but now it seems the sequel is not going to be released anytime soon..... Hmm... After playing Stars! for a few years I came up with some interesting additions to the...
