We have decided to release incremental builds every month (minimum). 0.4 will take a lot of work because it's going to be a detailed combat engine. However, you can expect many more releases building up to it with bugfixes and other improvements. So, on that note: 0.3.1 is due out at the end of Jan...

Re: hmmm

Gravity from passing ships, ... ... wich is absolutely negligible... Of course, this is all a hideous realism argument, which makes me a witch - so please excuse me while I flee before the crew of Monty Python burn me with a duck! It seems you got the entire picture of what we were all talking abou...

Re: Size and structure

Well there's an old engineering saying: If you keep doubling the size of a chair, eventually, it will crumble under its own weight. Not in space. There's no weight where there is no gravity. Wrong. Gravity is only a normal aceleration so any aceleration of equal or greater value can break the chair...

dreamer: then advocate a 'strategic battle' option, which foregoes all ship design and other boring tactical aspects like interactive ship combat. Thinks are not only black and white. In this case I want grey. It's not about having or not complexity, its about the level of complexity. And I would p...

So that's why you balance the combat effectiveness / cost efficiency / whatever of big and small ships well, so that you really want to build some big slow ships, even though they move slow. Alternatively... I DO understand your point an dall the implications. I was just mentioning that if in comba...

Then what is? CVS snapshot surely aren't. Forum activity and periodic releases. I hate to be a critic, but Nasenbaer does have a strong point.

This would also make big ships less useful for force projection, as it'd take forever for them to get where they're going... so you'd want some medium ships as well to actually go out and shoot stuff most of the time, and you'd only move your big ships around for important things. In theory anyway....

What I am wondering though, if we want to make big ships slow, and small ships fast, we could do it by using the ships mass to determine how many enigines are ship needs to reach a certain speed. So a small ship needs 1 engine to reach FTLx4, while a big ship needs 4 engines. What do you think. Wou...

Geoff also has a point that ship design is a once in a while event. In addition, most player enjoys designing, so we don't need the focus mechanics here. Anyway, what I would like is a simple combat sistem and simple ships around. I don't care much for how complicated is the design process for them...

We should just ignore his non productive posts guys and gals. When he stops getting attention he'll stop coming back here. In fact I DO seem to remember the guy for a couple of months ago. Same complains, same results: We could all get more united defending a proyect we would like to go ahead. Last...

I think you are just imposing arbitrary restrictions on how space can distributed, which in the case, a moo1 style from the way I mentioned is better. There is no additional rps, aside from the natural rps in your system. The idea was to build it similar to planet focus. In the case of small ships ...

What's with all the "balanced ship" hate????, specialized ships always seem to come out on top anyway in most games with ship design. Because that is the way it is. And it's logical also. Even if it's a realism argument, there is a reason why you don't see a combat tank / troop transport ...
