I did few other symlinks: ln -s /usr/lib/libboost_signals.so.1.32.0 /usr/lib/libboost_signals-gcc-mt-1_32.so.1.32.0 ln -s /usr/lib/libboost_filesystem.so.1.32.0 /usr/lib/libboost_filesystem-gcc-mt-1_32.so.1.32.0 And now I'm getting: [[email protected] freeorion]# freeorion freeorion: /usr/bin/../lib/li...

Ok. I have compiled liblog4cpp, but I'm still getting message "cannot find shared object". I have checked if I have liblog4cpp.so.1 on my system and I didn't have it. Instead I have liblog4cpp.so.4. I had to symlink it. Now it doesn't bother about liblog4cpp. I have installed fmod, but still I didn'...

I've tested your autopackage installer. It has some problems. [[email protected] Downloads]# ./freeorion-0.3.x86.package err:installExe()1285: freeorion cannot be run on this system. err:installExe()1285: freeorionca cannot be run on this system. err:installExe()1285: freeoriond cannot be run on this s...

My two cents again. Perhaps issues raised by Geoff could be resolved by those things: a) Superstructures built on planet like Biospheres would cause the other race to have a tolerable environment even if terraforming process is in motion for the conqueror race. b) Genetic alternation technology that...

Sorry Geoff. The quote should be: The "official" environment classifiaction of a planet would depend where its actual environment "angle" is relative to the nearest "pure" environments (the current classes like Toxic, Terran, Barren). Assuming even spacing between environments around the wheel, anyt...

IMO, planets should also remember their original / natural environment, and the maximum distance away from the original environment you could terraform with a given technology would be a hard limit. As well, the rate of change of angle/environment would fall off as you moved a planet further from i...

Ok. I have read those topics. Geoff. You are right. I would like to see those options to be fully customisable by server admin before the game starts. I have reviewed Utilae's combat proposal. It's so far the best idea if you'd like to do it that way. I would opt for battle-turn based combat, but Ut...

Re: Issues on multiplayer and battles
The other six can chat or something, play ping pong. Oh no. I certainly wouldn't play multiplayer game like this. It's just too long, the idea is flawed. I want to be focused on the game. I want to feel the action and the climate of the game. And what if you are playing three player game? Two playe...

Re: Terraforming and different species
Well, I think a terran planet could have just as good minerals as a barren planet. I see no reason why a barren planet would have more. The only reason I could see as to why a sillicoid would want a barren planet over a terran, is because on a barren planet there are no trees and mountains, so ther...

Terraforming and different species
I have few ideas about how terraforming should look like in FO. Suppose we have different races in the game. Humans for example prefer Terran environments. It gives them more output to production/farming and suits them best. Let's assume we have aquatic race. Oceans suits them best and maximises the...

My two cents. Time travel is interesting, but consider this. You build a time-travel capable spaceship on planet X. You send it to the past 50 turns to aid you in the battle you lost. You have the advantage of this time-ship and win the battle. But on the other hand, your enemy somehow attempts to b...

Issues on multiplayer and battles
Hi. I've been watching this project for a long time. I'm reading occasionally some of your ideas that are of particular interest for me. Recently I've been reading your ideas in Game Design forum regarding tactical combat engine. You talk about epic, large scale battles with few players battling at ...
