An idea for the 'X''s (which of course won't possibly be named that if/when they are put in the game :) ). Instead of having to actually look for them, why not have some of them find you? For example: Your empire expands to say 15 systems, and suddenly your people reach a sort of 'enlightened' state...

certain Binary formations that get too close together can create a 'type Ia' supernova (not type II as impaler said :) ). It's in the FAQ i linked to in my "(super)nova" thread. I think the present theories state that it probably wouldn't be possible to have stars around closely rotating multiple st...

Well it seems that C/++ is your language of choice. That's the first part of learning a language done. IMHO there are 2 more stages. 1st stage: Learn about the 'control statements' and boolean logic. These are used in all languages, so you only really need to know them once. e.g. #an if statement in...

I agree... _WHEN_ it's going to go bang is hard to work out. whether or not it will eventually go bang is very easy. Simply work out it's mass. If it's 20+ solar mases, it's going to create a type II pop. If it's 7.x+ it'll create a type Ib/c pop. Also, it'd be big and red and swollen (a red (super)...

Having just looked up what quasars are presently thought of, that does seem to be one of the potential possibilities:

http://www.phys.vt.edu/~jhs/faq/quasars.html

But i can't find a benefit in that faq for what they could do in-game... :(

If you're going to pick out such minor technicalities as that ( ;) ), i'm going to have to point out that the inhabitants of a star would have thousands of years of warning the star was going to go bang in the first place (the thing would go through all sorts of stages, as depicted in the FAQ i link...

Well that's a surprise. I thought multi-star systems would have been discussed decades ago. Nebulas: I like your suggestion of nebula's simply being 'places' that are linked to, but not stars. A star and planets could form later in the game say (random of course). Brown Dwarf: Undiscovered BD's are ...

Hubble pictures

The revelent peeps are probably already aware of this, but just in case, pictures released by NASA are copyright free (in the public domain). http://heritage.stsci.edu/ = hubble heritage. Most of the decent picies are here. You can probably use them for backgrounds and such like. I personally would ...

PHPBB (the software this forum is using) doesn't adapt to daylight savings time. So for 50% of the year, the time given will be 1hr out (except for places that don't change their clocks). Suggested solution would be to go to your options page and change your timezone and hour forward/back. whenever ...

(super)nova

Seeing as there are plans for supernova, i was just wondering what the plans are for a supernova if it actually goes off? I can't find any mention of such a thing in these forums, so i'd just like to bring a mere "detail" to your attention. When a star does go supernova, i'm fairly certain you've de...

I know that stars and planet types have been decided on (at least there's a link to them from the 'game features' forum), however it strikes me that the universe is going to be rather a boring place. it'll have: Stars Blackholes wormholes neutron stars supernova And thats about it (from what i can t...

I'd say the apprent lack of QA testing (or at least fixing of reported QA bugs).
There are the most obvious of bugs of places. I doubt there is anyone who has played one game of MOO3 and not found themselves a bug during it.

But i'm sure i'll think of something that they need.
Even if they don't realise it... ;)

I believe that there should be options for just about all of the afore mentioned 8 pages of suggestions. Most of these options could be presented to the player on an 'advanced' options page when they create a new game. Starlanes_on_off - Turn starlanes on or off (off could simply create invisible st...
