Re: German Translation

Checking the whole of de.txt (& es,fr,it, etc..) for every single missing string is going to be quite a task, but one I suspect it's already been looked at in preparation for the soon-to-be-released FreeOrion 0.4.4 ... :) The only stringtable that is actively maintained all the time is the Engl...

Re: Am I the only one who never won a game?

It is simply annoying to get beaten time and time again on the easiest of settings. This should be adjusted, if you want to attract more people. Which version do you use? The latest stable release (0.4.3) or one of the recent test builds? If you're using the 0.4.3 stable release, this one is seriou...

Re: 0.4.4 RC1 schedule

Another advantage of having a release branch is that changes specific to the release builds, like commenting out the Super Tester Takeover building, remain separated from trunk. Consequently we can't forget to revert those changes after the final release is out, as has happened with that building al...

Re: 0.4.4 RC1 schedule

I will post a notification to this thread after I've created the release branch. Release branch has been created, under branches/release-0.4.4 . Contributors: Please base patches intended for the 0.4.4 release on working copies checked out from the release branch (instead of checking out new workin...

0.4.4 RC1 schedule

EDIT2: RC1 builds have been uploaded! EDIT: Due to known bugs in the release branch, I've postponed the deadline for RC1 until next Monday. Date given in this post has been updated. See also my post below. It took us a year, but we are finally there - we're ready for initial release candidate build...

Re: Changelog to date in prep for 0.4.4

Ok, I've taken Mats list and worked backward from rev 7315 to the commits at the beginning of June (to cover everything that has been added since his first draft), added respective entries and committed the whole thing, but I didn't review what Mat had already done. So additional reviews are really ...

As I've seen just today, the 0.4.3 release has been tagged, so the 0.4.4 release will be too.

Re: Getting ready for 0.4.4

Fix the Windows SDK so we can point at when releasing 4.4. I want to continue with my pure cmake SDK-less setup on all platforms but this change is a blocker for month now. Are you referring to this: http://www.freeorion.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=66230#p66230 ? If yes, sorry, I guess I've been the ...

Re: Getting ready for 0.4.4

However I rather would implement fixes on the release branch and merge them back into trunk. I'd prefer to do it that way anyway, but from my reading I didn't exactly get how to do that. I found elaborate explanations of how to use svn's merge command to keep a feature branch in sync with trunk (th...

Re: Getting ready for 0.4.4

As the visibility issue has to be resolved anyway I don't think this should hold up 0.4.4. -- I've gotten convinced that the planned combat visibility handling I had thought was previously in place for a while, really wasn't, it simply hadn't come up so clearly. While that may be, I still think it'...

Re: Getting ready for 0.4.4

Things I want done entirely in the stringtable that don't affect gameplay or code: [...] That's quite a lot of work to be done, and these are things which have been in our past releases as well. Of course all this is long overdue for getting fixed, but I wouldn't want to delay 0.4.4 too much for th...

Re: Getting ready for 0.4.4

What do you think of the idea of making a branch for the 0.4.4 release? If adrian_broher thinks it's necessary, fine... Well, he specifically requested making a release branch (so apparently he thinks it's necessary). A release branch also would have the benefit that in case some major bug turns up...
