Neutron stars, pulsars, and black holes

Ok, quick story. The first time I played MoO3 and saw a neutron star just sitting out there with no starlanes attached, I figured there must be something special about it. So I sacrificed a scout, and after 20 something turns of treking across deep space finaly arrived at the system to discover...no...

That post was a general rant, not aimed at anybody in particular. I think, aside from the planet in the first one and the default photoshop off-re...

Perhaps science outposts could produce more RP based on where they're placed? I would think a neutron star or black hole would have much more scientific value than your every-day gas giant. Actually I've got a bit of ideas about neutron stars, but I'll save those for a different thread.

Spent a little time this evening messing around with what I made earlier. Changed things up a little so I can pretty much make any variations or new stuff easily, like so: http://www.ecst.csuchico.edu/~breadman/files/menug.jpg http://www.ecst.csuchico.edu/~breadman/files/menuy.jpg http://www.ecst.cs...

If I'm reading Impaler right...basically make it so each dash of the dotted line is equal to the distance the ship will travel each turn? I like that. Only problem I see is that if you have different fleets with different speeds moving on the same starlane the overlap might make it look just like a ...

... Maybe I'm not quite understanding you, but isn't that pretty much what I said? Outposts give you the ability to expand borders and claim territory you wouldn't be able to normally, and borders and territory should be diplomatic factors. You can't exactly bargain away a system that you have no cl...

Since you got me thinking... what about outposts that harvest gas giants for revenue? Or mine asteroid belts for minerals?

The Role of Outposts and Fleet Deployment

In my opinion, outpost ships had little use in MoO's 2 and 3 (at least I almost never used them). But I'd like to see them in FO for a number of reasons. - Establishing claims. Colony ships are expensive and take a long time to build. If there's a system you want to colonize but can't afford to atm,...

Some nice stuff, first one definitely needs a bit of work but the other two look ok. Ok, this may be mostly a personal peeve, but I'd like to make a request here. Anybody who is doing artwork, or is thinking of doing artwork that is space related, please go download Celestia ( http://shatters.net/ce...

I only left the minimize in there cause there are certain windows in v.2 such as fleet management that have it. I don't see a need for it either, just put it in as a "it could look like this if it's needed" thing. I'm conceptualizing. As for color, I just started with blue cause its easies...

Also why not show destination and ETA when a fleet is opened Oh yeah, knew I was forgetting something. I was just conceptualizing though, with the vertical column format. Also forgot to point out that with a setup like this its much easier to see what ships are in what fleet. Would also be nice to ...

Fleet Management (mock-ups)

For some reason I've never been comfortable with the current system of dragging those bars up and down, so I came up with a mockup of something I like better. I'll let the picture speak: http://www.ecst.csuchico.edu/~breadman/files/fleets.jpg It just feels more right to me having stuff vertical, you...
