That would only make much sense if they produced Reserch points that whent only to the development of Terraforming. Perhaps each of the Catagories we are discussing under the Tec Forum should have its own kind of Facility that produces only that kind of Research (and maybe a less efficient facility...

IMHO: Monolanguage code is a. faster b. easier to understand c. more flexible C++ implementation with arrays and bitflags is fast, easy and universal. Remember sometimes it's better to work without classes and objects. Bitflag here means flags like 100100100111. If we make biwise OR with sample flag...

What is "military doctrine"? It's just apllied sociology or psychology, Physics or chemistry, we do not need it as separate category. I agree with Sandlapper's scheme if he removes military from it. ANother question is: would some of researches in one category require basic level of another category...

Another option is research outpost that can be sent to planet with hostile enviroment just like people send research groups to south pole. These outpost will give RPs from planets that could not be colonized otherwise.

I think that the names of the categories must describe something theoretical, even if they have many applications. In real life (OK, it's not about realism, it is agbout fun) military takes the best from everywhere. Many of military techs (sorry for disobeying no-modern-history-rule) are used widely...

I suggest 10 categories in 4 groups 1st group:Physics 1. Matter theory (all about matter, dfferent aplications, weapons and construction) 2. Field theory (Energy, Force shields, beam weapons) 3. Space-time theory (Engines, exotic weapons, research) 2nd group: Advanced matter studies 4. Biology (ever...

Muxec: Stop trolling. Or start putting more relevant, considered and reasoned content to your posts. You could PM this instead of posting here. And I think that my post is relevant. OK another variant: Exclude radiated and put radiation as independet meter (just like miniral richness). Radiation le...

I guess that Radiated and Inferno must be switched places on EP wheel And maybe even Tundra<->Desert Here is it: Terran --- Ocean | | Tundra Swamp | | | Toxic | | Desert Radiated | | Barren --- Inferno The idea is opposites: To terran opposites are Inferno and radiated (as originally) but for Desert...

In MoO2 outposts sucked

In MoO3 outposts were great. The game itself sucked.

I vote for A. If Any race can live on almost any planet there would be fight for all planets, not only for home-like planets. A special race pick extends the living range and makes it like from B-model Remember, in MoO2 terran planets were rare and unguarded (at least by space eel) terran planets al...

senary distribution is really close to gaussian for large numbers... Instead of 4d6 we can use gaussian with mean value of 14 and sigma=3... Simple. And as all distributions are gaussian we can just write 4-14-24 (min-mean-max)

Anyway, why not write "senary distribution" and than explain instead of just writing d6? ; )

Anyway I think that senary and octonary distributions are good for RPGs, strategy game must use something different. Maybe binary distribution or gaussian

OK, as already defined Yellow stars are more likely to have terrans, etc... So giving more reds and less yellows would not only be realistic but also fun as players will chose their exploration route according to starcolors.
