Midjourney Pictures
I recently read about an image creating AI called "midjourney" and gave it a try. It really creates astonishing result... it's not too great with spaceships, but good with futuristic cities, planets, and it excels at portraits. So if we should be having leaders at some point, it may be very useful. I've attached some images I created to demonstrate its capabilities (released under the usual license).

Re: Midjourney Pictures
Giving this some more thought I'm not entirely sure about the license... Midjourney allows images to be used non-commercially or even commercially up to a revenue to 1M$/year.

Re: Midjourney Pictures
Images are great but the license might indeed be a problem...
Not sure though what is the validity of their license claim ?

As far as I understand, that is not an acceptable restriction for CC-BY-SA compatibility. The Silent One wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 11:36 amnon-commercially or even commercially up to a revenue to 1M$/year.

Re: Midjourney Pictures
This midjourney pictures make me think I'm looking at several oil paintings (from a database with labeled works) fused together.
And looking into the details, it is always unsettling. The most common, people that lack parts of them, like part of a lip (above), the whole face (all the head is nape), or an arm (but the hand is there, as if the arm is invisible), and spatial and structural inconsistencies.

Re: Midjourney Pictures
I think that's partly how it works, but way more flexible than that.
Nothing that wouldn't be fixable, and these quirks are usually only noticable at max resolution.Oberlus wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 3:42 pm And looking into the details, it is always unsettling. For leader protraits, I think it would be useful, but the license issue remains.

Re: Midjourney Pictures
Those images are impressive. Scarily so...
Re: Midjourney Pictures
1st and second image - humans, although the girls lip looks like a gigantic cold sore.
3rd image - Fulver
4th image - Maybe Celestephyte - does not quite fit
5th image - with a little more tweak - Laenfa
6th - Exobot
some cooler images for the game

Re: Midjourney Pictures
The only question is whether the bot owners' license claims on the bot production are valid¹ and how much we need to alter the image to make it our own creation rather than the bot's.
Once it's our creation and not the bot owners', it can be used.
Until that point, the license used by the bot owners is clearly incompatible with FreeOrion.
¹ imho this won't be settled before a few years.
Re: Midjourney Pictures
Note that there is an open-source solution, apparently.
Re: Midjourney Pictures
The dev of StableHorde just told me that apparently, the paying version of Midjourney gives full ownership of the picture, so full ownership means ability to put the pictures under GPL-3 or whatever license is needed.
Doesn't mean that we shouldn't use Stable Horde instead !
But since the browser version doesn't work in Firefox, I wasn't able to test it yet, so can't vouch for it.
