Tech Icons
Gladly , for instance to place the icon on different backgrounds. And no, there is no border yet. I didn't forget it, but as i saw the icon without border i liked it. I was just waiting for someone to complain So do we need a border or not?pd wrote:only if someone explains me why we need the transparency

yes, we need a border, umpteenth.
please just implement what you get from the artists and let them decide what works best :P
you know, those icons get colored by category(at least the white and grey parts). placing them on a neutral background(like black) is for this reason favoured.for instance to place the icon on different backgrounds

I'd suggest against putting a one click remove button on the enqueued techs. It'd be too easy to accidentally click this. I suggested that we be able to drag-drop techs on and off the queue in an old tzlaine email, as dumped here:

There are also a few relevant feature requests on sourceforge:

Edit: This should probably be on a more relevant thread... oh well...
We also need to change the category selection buttons... Right now the text starts to overflow the buttons if you add any longer category names or add a few more buttons.
tzlaine thought using the icons instead of the text names might work... I suspect we'll need both to be clear. We could make the icons about as tall/wide as about three times the current height of the buttons, and put some much smaller text under them.

I don't like using drag&drop to remove techs. To prevent accidentally clicks we can add a message when the project already got rps. Maybe we can use drag&drop as a second way to remove projects. It'd be too easy to accidentally click this. Why? It seems pretty intuitive to me... and there's already drag-drop used to reorder, so why not to add / remove as well?noelte wrote:I don't like using drag&drop to remove techs.
It'd have to be all the time, since you might accidentally click even if it hasn't got any rp's accumulated... and hunting through the tree to find the now missing tech would be annoying in either case.To prevent accidentally clicks we can add a message when the project already got rps.
Also, to me, removing a project from the queue seems like a sufficiently rare activity that having a one-click way to do it isn't worth the hassle of it happening due to accidental clicks or dealing with the resulting confirmation popups, and especially not the space to add the button...
Also also, it'd be nice if we could make the boxes for individual techs smaller... so that we can use a similar queue arrangement without taking up so much space for the Production UI:

(unless someone else has a better suggestion...)
I wouldn't call it intuitive, maybe understandable. If i see an x i instantly know what's meant. Otherwise i have to think: 'how can i remove an entry'. BTW, removing an tech which already got rps make no sense at all. Rather than delete it from the queue it should be move to the end.
And about those button, to be honest i would like more buttons "delete", "move on top" , "move to end" (one up and one down)

i also don't like to drag and drop , at least as the only way to delete techs. since drag and drop is already in we could add a little trash can icon somewhere, where the techs can be droped into. but i would also prefer a cross and i don't think accidently clicking it will be a problem, as long as no other button is next to it.
btw, i've got a question about those other categories like weapons, ships and stuff. can't they simply go into contruction(for instance)? i mean, we have those 5 global categories, where basicly everything could be sorted in.
