A friend showed me a program that he uses to make images like these. His are far more impressive than mine.

Nice, execept that #1, 3, 4 and # 2 + 5 have the same cloud layers. The orange clouds of planet #2 are awesome, looks like an inferno world.

they look very flat. because there seems to be only 1 light coming directly from the camera.

and the cloud bumps are too heavy in my mind.

what's the grey outer ring?

These are just demo's. They are not by any means "top quality" images.

They were posted to demonstrate the basic look that could be achieved with minimal effort. It took less than five minutes to makes these images. Imagine if I spent time on them how they would look.

That'll be the atmosphere, though it shouldn't be protruding so much. but you guys got remember these images will be scaled down.

And, i'll third that vote on knowing what the proggy doing this is. looks interesting...is it free\shareware\over-priced-tosh-wareTM?

well, but the atmosphere dosn't appear grey, and it isnt visible all around the planet. :)

i'm working on the planets too. this is what i got so far:

these are the pics terran1.png, terran2.png and terran3.png - basicly all pics show the same planet, but at another rotation.

oh btw: yes, it's earth :)

i'm using 3d studio max, but you should be able to do the same with it's little brother gmax (it's free).

You've got real talent :P Ny chance you can point me to any tuts? how about write your own! lol. I got gmax, blender and wings3d on my comp but haven't gotten round to learning any of them (exams! argh!)
