In the game setup screen we have little pictures of a galaxy:
I'd rather go with something practical if less pretty.
Many of them give you some idea about how the galaxy will be set up, others, especially "cluster" and "irregular", aren't very informative. And i don't really see how the retouched photo treatment can give much of an idea of what these two types are like and how they are different.Galaxy type thumbnails

Re: Galaxy type thumbnails
I can`t really see a big difference between these two images...
However one problem that those original images might have, is that the contrast between the galaxy and the space around it could be sharper to more clearly illustrate the shape of the galaxy.
...(they both look like rings to me). And as for the irregular galaxy images, is there even a very informative way to show irregularity? So don`t really see an obvious reason why the UI should be made less beautiful.eleazar wrote:

Re: Galaxy type thumbnails
To repeat my previous post:
I didn't say there was a problem with the ring.
But "irregular" and "cluster" galaxies have different shapes-- recognizable in game even if not easily described. The thumbnails do nothing to hint at what these shapes might be or how they are different from each other.
