I've opened PR to fix UI data related crashes https://github.com/freeorion/freeorion/pull/2479
It isn't compatible with the current server so I will start new game when this PR will be accepted and merged.

As there other possible solution ready https://github.com/freeorion/freeorion/pull/2480 I will upgrade and restart the server with the current game in open mode when next weekly test build will be published next Tuesday.
If this issue won't be reproduced after updating, I'll start a new slow game near 16:00 UTC next Thursday. Otherwise I will start game with next weekly test build with https://github.com/freeorion/freeorion/pull/2479 merged.

Incidentally I am now getting a CTD when I click the Turn button to submit my orders, no longer the previous error. But this may be an authentication issue now that the game is open - it's asked me for a password which I don't have, so I joined without inputting one.

(I know the game is over, I'm just reporting this in case it's useful.)

It can't be an authentication issue as each player is considered to be authenticated. Do you have a log where you get crash?

I don't know - are logs generated automatically? I can send it if so - it's just happened.

You could try to find them https://www.freeorion.org/index.php/Config.xml. You need freeorion.log only.

So I found the log file but I now can't reproduce the CTD despite getting it twice this morning. Now it gives me the same error as before. Oh well.

I was able to connect using my linux build compiled from master (with PR 2480).

I haven't touched the server. It still sends old UI data protocol version.

Then, either the changes on the client are enough to bypass/fix the bug or... the game state on the turn I connected (26 or 27, IIRC) is somehow different to turns 1-24 and doesn't trigger the bug or... some of the changes in server (stop game, bypass the password) did the trick?

I didn't even restart the server. Maybe someone cleaned broken UI data. I will restart server with previous save game to test it when new weekly test build will be published.

Ok. It happened again just now and so I attach the log file in case it's helpful after Tuesday.
