If it is to allow more players in the game, I'm OK with no allied victory, but in that case I'd like to ask for no diplomacy allowed (so no gifting).

And I'm certainly in for AI replacement in case of players leaving, if that is possible (which I think it isn't for v0.4.10?).

It could be implemented with server-only in 0.4.10 as it doesn't change protocol. But still there no low-memory solution for it.
Gentoo Linux x64, gcc-9.3, boost-1.72.0
Ubuntu Server 18.04 x64, gcc-7.4, boost-1.65.1

I'm going to start the test game after 0.4.10.1 RC3 out at Friday September 25th 2020, 1pm UTC. It also restores Ubuntu Xenial 16.04 LTS compatibility maybe someone has issues with it.

If there is just 4 of us I'd like to play every alien for themselves. Though 2 vs 2 is also ok. I also like low monster/native but that might be a minority view. At the end of the day I'll play whatever.

Same. With just 4 players I have no strong preferences for alliance rules.

I'm eager to start the game.

So... what will be the galaxy settings in the end?
Edit: I mean, galaxy shape, monsters, etc.

None of my fleets moved in the 1st turn, though I can't guarantee I didn't stuff up somewhere. Everything else worked as normal. I assume no-one else had that problem? If they work properly this time I'll just assume I misclicked.

Missing some orders happened to me once. This is what I did (wrong):
Connect, issue orders and click Turn, disconnect, change my mind, reconnect, change some orders, click Turn, disconnect before I got my Empire's tick mark of Empire ready.
The orders that my empire performed were the first ones I issued, and I didn't get the warning about disconnecting without playing my turn.
That issue was solved by o01eg's change to make server save game state when issuing orders (instead of only when clicking "Turn").
No idea if this has anything to do with your case.

No idea, I did have some connection issues with my internet, but its also entirely possible I just did some stupid left click instead of right click nonsense before rushing to work, but I do remember seeing the ETA. Anyway my next turn worked fine. For the record, if I lose it was all because of this stupid 1 lost turn :)
