Recent Windows Builds
I'm going to host recent builds, that Geoff is kind enough to provide.
Every build posted here comes in 2 parts: executables(3 files) and content files(the entire default folder). The executables can be downloaded via direct links posted here. The content files can be downloaded using the tarballs, also posted here, or by updating using SVN to the specific revision.
The executables go into the freeOrion root folder and the content files go into freeOrion/default.
---
Steps
1. Install the latest release v0.3.16
2. Get the contents of the default folder using SVN or grab a tarball of the corresponding revision.
3. Unzip and overwrite the original files.
IGNORE FOR NOW: 2. Download [ur l=http://sourceforge.net/projects/freeori ... p/download]the latest SDK[/ur l], unzip and copy all .dll files from the FreeOrion folder to your freeOrion root directory, replace existing files.
You can always check for the latest changes at http://cia.vc/stats/project/FreeOrion/
Please use the latest build, old ones are going to be removed regularly.

Re: Recent Windows Builds
I'll check this out next wednesday, if it has any semblance of a new release you can consider me back in action
On a first glance, this new build is not letting me move fleets.

Re: Recent Windows Builds
At first glance, it seems you didn't make sure the contents of your default folder are up to date(SVN). Your fleets have no fuel and are missing other stats.
Re: Recent Windows Builds
My bad, I thought I could just download that package, extract it to my FreeOrion folder, and have a go. (Kinda funny: my missing it and your reply, come to think of it Fleets without fuel )
Is there any chance you can include these files in a zip (or the zip) ? Don't have Subversion installed at the moment, but guess I could grab that as well. (I can host a few of these files as well, if that'd be of any help)

Re: Recent Windows Builds
I don't keep track of every file that has changed since 0.3.13. The easiest way for everyone is really to just use subversion.

Re: Recent Windows Builds
You can download a tarball from sourceforge of the whole repository, or just a subdirectory. If you extract the files and put them into the FreeOrion directory, it should work. See the "Download GNU tarball" link at the bottom of this page. Most reasonable archive openers should be able to read the contents of .tar.gz files, which is what you'll be downloading.Sai wrote:Is there any chance you can include these files in a zip (or the zip) ?
Re: Recent Windows Builds
Oh awesome, and no worries about the ability to open them. It's just that this computer isn't a developing machine, I'll check out the tarball Wednesday (or just get subversion, a reformat of this computer has been long overdue anyway, so might as well stop keeping it clean).
Thanks for the pointers!

FreeOrion_Win32_3395.zip is available.
There's an additional step necessary to get it to work, because some dependencies have been updated.
Installation:
1. Install the latest release v0.3.13
2. Download the latest SDK, unzip and copy all .dll files from the FreeOrion folder to your freeOrion root directory, replace existing files.
3. Get the latest contents of the default folder using SVN or grab a tarball.
4. Unzip build 3395 and overwrite the original files from the installation folder

Re: Recent Windows Builds
Works for me (Win7). Thank you.
If I provided any images, code, scripts or other content here, it's released under GPL 2.0 and CC-BY-SA 3.0.

Using the command line flag "--test-3d-combat" when starting the client, as soon as a combat occurs, the 3d combat will be started. Ships can be placed and dragged(if you hit the center). There's no way to exist combat and return to the galaxy map at this point. You can however hit ctrl+q to exist to the desktop, as long as the ships window is still open. This is just for testing.
