Re: Linux freeorion executable
Sure,
GeofftheMedio pinged my via IRC, I had some audio related issues with my build VM so I set up a new one and made sure everything worked. So after I finished creating a new build I uploaded it..

Re: Linux freeorion executable
Looks like someone has problems with the RC1 build for Linux (although he has been able to run rev 5576): viewtopic.php?p=58088#p58088
Maybe you can take a look at the problem?

Re: Linux freeorion executable
Ok, updated the build to FreeOrion-5755-Linux-Test.tar.xz.

Updated http://www.nagilum.org/FreeOrion-5853-Linux-Test.tar.xz
I included some more mesa libs and alsa libs.
They could help with audio issues.

Re: Linux freeorion executable
With motivation and testing from Grek336 I build a .deb that seems to work for him:
http://www.nagilum.org/freeorion.deb (171M)
Its for i686 but also works on x64 you just need do a "dpkg --force architecture -i freeorion.deb".
It has no dependencies and has (hopefully) everything in /usr/local/freeorion.

Re: Linux freeorion executable
Should the .deb be put up on sourceforge as well?
Is it standard practice to not have any version number info in the .deb filename? Does it not need updating for new versions as well?

Re: Linux freeorion executable
It was just a first version.
I just finished an amd64 version which - at least for me - finally makes the sound work again.
http://www.nagilum.org/freeorion-0.4.2_r5866_amd64.deb
I'll create an updated i686 version later today which I'll give a proper name.
Update: Fixed dependency. Added dependency graph of the libs.. :>

Re: Linux freeorion executable
Still not clear about whether the .deb files should be on sourceforge...
And if so, is there any info about what versions of Debian (or other Linux distros?) it will or won't work for? Or install / usage instructions?

Re: Linux freeorion executable
The next version(s). I missed a dependency.
It should work on Mint and Ubuntu.
Probably also on Debian and other derivates.
