That's right, starting with revision 6016 you don't need to compile GiGi separately.

Ogre3D is still needed, as it is an external dependency. FYI: it seems like there is an ebuild for Ogre3D available in gentoo, maybe you can utilitize that.

Yup, have the Ogre installed. Used to be in the instructions, when I updated it to include GiGi replaced ogre with that. (since Ogre is pulled in by GiGi anyways).

Ok, removed GiGi, removed the links that where created. Completely removed the freeorion directory.

Tried using the newer method, worked fine so I updated the instructions.
