If running freeorion in windowed mode, it grabs the mouse and never releases it. If freeorion gets freezed, a normal user won't be able to kill it and has to reset his machine.
How can the tech-demo be closed if you never get the mouse out of the client area?
The only way of killing it is shwitching to a console (pressing CRTL+ALT+F1) and sending a kill signal to freeorion. I don't think most people are aware of that trick
I suggest implementing a Keyboard shortcut that releases the mouse - like VMWare does it when you press CRTL+ALT.
FreeOrion|linux grabs mouse focus - how to release?

Re: FreeOrion|linux grabs mouse focus - how to release?
CTRL + Q don't work in tech demo to exit?
Re: FreeOrion|linux grabs mouse focus - how to release?
It works. Should me mentioned somewhere INSIDE the tech-demo.
What is the techdemo supposed to do? It just keeps my cpu at 100%, but nothing moves there...
I must admit that "normal" users won't run the techdemo.

It is for testing planetary system. You can look at objects, rotate camera, zoom camera and that is all. Tzlaine works on combat menu.

It's the playground for tzlaine and artists.
Re: FreeOrion|linux grabs mouse focus - how to release?
There's a file GG/src/Ogre/Plugins/OISInput.cfg in FreeOrion repository - if that is copied into the application directory / current working directory, disabling grabbing works. Thanks Geoff.
/Edit: the file also exists in FreeOrion svn root directory. I'll deliver that with the next release.

Alternatively, Alt + Tab also releases the mouse focus for me via application switching.
