I run into another siterep thing :shock:

Now it's about invasion:

SITREP_GROUND_BATTLE_ENEMY
Die Kolonie %planet% von %empire% wurde mit Bodentruppen angegriffen.
Seems the %empire% always choose the AI-competitor. As you see in the screenshots below, if the enemy (center) invades my planet, the siterep mention "The planet of center was invaded".
But if I conquer a colony, the siterep mention the AI as well: "The planet of region was invaded" - As it should be.

Just added the sitereps as screenshots. If you need more information, just ask :)

That is wrong German translation. The key already hints, that the empire here is your enemy, nothing about ownership of the colony

This is your translation, right? Better check the original/the English one

Actually, I didn't get the meaning right. :oops: Sometimes you had to talk about things :) Yes I have to change the translation somehow...

As you see in the screenshot below, Monsters bombard planets regardless of shields (the sitrep is right this time).
I don't like this at all :( Maybe it's a bug?

Not really a bug. The monsters should be scary. If they cant bombard through shields we must give them serious weapons to kill off the shields.

The current a bit lame trick is not letting them mature.
Any code or patches in anything posted here is released under the CC and GPL licences in use for the FO project.

All bombardment weapons work like that. And it makes a lot of sense:

- Defense against invasion: planetary stealth, defending ships, shields, troops, (planetary defense).
- Defense against bombardment: planetary stealth, defending ships, (planetary defense).

You can ignore for a while a small squad of enemy ships within your space, as long as they don't have (enough) troops with them they can't do real harm apart from disrupting supply. You can't ignore a bombardment squad sturdy enough to withstand a turn of your planetary defenses, because they can wreak havoc in your populations even with huge planetary shields.
Bombardment needs to be better than invasion in certain scenarios, and this is one of these.

Thank's for that statement. I don't like that nevertheless :wink:
Defense against bombardment: planetary stealth, defending ships, (planetary defense).
That means, planetary shields are not really useful. Even if you have barrier shield 4 (341 defense) even with laser 4 (11 dmg) you need only 32 shot (11 lasers, with 3 combat rounds - 6 ships with 2 lasers each) to bring them down. It's always better to spend the 1.88k RP into stealth...

For me the only reason for going to barrier shield 4 was to block the attacks of monsters. But since that is impossible, I never would go for planetary shields anymore :cry: Could be different for multiplayer, but in singleplayer I do not see any benefits in shields...

Bombardment works through the shields, maybe?
Last time it was just a maybe, that's why I asked again...
