actually I'm surprised that people liked Event Horizon. I saw that in the theatre, and the first 20 minutes was great.... but after that, let's just say I had some strong negative feelings about it.... and I like a lot of bad movies...go figure...

Well it's hardly for kids or people who do not like violence, etc, but the movie was interesting. Action is always cool, but more importantly it was like what is going on with this ship. When you think about it, the end is a little lame and dissappointing. It starts off well, with mystery, you know what happened to the ship. But, torwards the end . . . GORY, BLOOD, ETC

THE GEEK's INDESPENSIBLE FILM LIST:

Star Wars (including 1 and 2)
Matrix Trilogy
LOTR Series (okay maybe not quite sci-fi but fantasy with many of the same elements nonetheless)

The star wars prequels and matrix sequels are not the best films in terms of story, exploration of character etc. but you have to admit they look and sound amazing 8) .

Sci-fi Movies:

Take your pic from the "selected cul movie" listing that's on Wikipedia.

They also have a thorough entry for sci-fi.

Hmm...

Star Wars (all 5 so far, soon to be 6)
All 3 Matrix films are fairly good (if you can wrap your mind around it)
I also tend to like concept films in the grain of "Minority Report".
kthxbye.

Artificial Intelligence was cool.

I liked the ending with the super evolved robots that many people confuse for aliens.
