The first save was 20MB I've resent the second save with the logs. It seems to have taken.

OK, so I loaded a game made some commands, saved it and exited and the save didn't load. So I loaded the same game, made the same commands, saved it, waited a few minutes and then exited and it loads.

I wish I'd figured that out earlier, it would have saved a lot of wasted hours.

Could you post freeoriond.log from immediately after making a save that takes a few minutes of waiting to work? The events are timestamped, so might reveal what's taking so long...

After doing that, what happens if you end your turn immediately after saving (in a game that will take a few minutes of waiting for the save to work properly)?

If I end turn immediatly after saving I get a blank grey line for about 10 - 15 seconds before it start executing orders.

Do you want a log for a save that works properly?

I should point out that I'm playing on a 500 star young galaxy with high planet density and very many star lanes. That is probably why it takes so long.

What happens if you end turn after waiting a few minutes / not after saving? Do orders start executing immediately, or is there still a 15 second delay?

under identical conditions without saving - 1 second delay.

500 stars
young galaxy
high density of planets
very many starways
