There is no typo.
I'm consistently getting the OTP notifications, and the other players in this game are connecting without much trouble for what I can see.
If your email address is right, you are connecting using the right user name, the server is sending the email to you... What can be the problem then?

Why are OTP passwords even necessary?
Passwords are necessary to protect your empire from being played by any stranger. OTP are a good way for that.

Or emails as delivery method?
There is another delivery method:

XMPP or e-mail

There no any UI for the players to define or change passwords so I decided One-Time Passwords are fine way.

E-mail isn't necessary, there are also XMPP IM supported.

I wonder if some other newbies from #[email protected] would also like to play

My promoting is now overshadowed by arguing on the topic of whether one needs a real PC to play real games (and definitions thereof).
Any luck with that or can we assume no more players will come?
If that's the case, an assuming you manage to overcome your difficulties to join the server, we will be 7 players and we should decide whether we'll do a no-diplomacy game or a free-diplomacy game. Since last game was no-diplomacy, I vote for free-diplomacy (and pray for not getting a xenophobic species).
BTW, I don't understand that last part about arguing. What needs to be argued or defined? FreeOrion is a 4x space game inspired by Master of Orion and other similar games and can run in many computers, no need for definitions.

For those of you that can compile from source, current master with recent o01eg's fixes made things quite better.

BTW, o01eg, I'm getting that "content checksum on the server and the client differs". Nothing to worry about, right?

Just one thing seems odd: the Messages window (chat) resets to its default dimensions each time I connect (either single-player or server).

It was fixed in https://github.com/freeorion/freeorion/issues/2817 but I need to update server to master as well.

XMPP works flawlessly for me, never tried e-mail for the OTPs.

You reap what you sow. The only one of you who has joined LGN is o01eg, and they have not done any promoting, yet.

It is a chat channel, often there is chatting going on (and usually not about freeorion).

What do you use for XMPP? Client, server? I've never used it.

I think it's you who should be doing the promotion.
