Previous experimental game allowed to catch several issues with diplomacy which are planned to be fixed soon. So I plan to start next game. It still continue to polish future 0.5.0 release. Weekly test build version is 2023-02-07.75c688f updated to 0.5 RC1 2023-02-16.e7bdb97.
I schedule test game at 7th of February and actual game at 9th of February. Turn limit will be 36 hours.

I'm out. Recent evidence suggests I do not have enough free time to play.
Hmm would it be easier for you if it were no diplomacy and you assumed Dark Forest Hypothesis? I.e. that everybody is out there to get you and so do you? You seem to be making turns just fine but do not commit, presumably waiting on diplomatic developments? Now even in no diplo scenario I would expect shadow "off game " diplomacy around but still
Anyway I would prefer no diplomacy but down for full diplo as well. Though even more drama that way I presume
And yes not box shape, Oberlus was pleading for that as well, especially considering his positioning in MP22. Ring I think should work well indeed?
We could try doing a gentlemen's agreement kinda thing and agree on not doing shadow diplomacy. It will have some prisoner's dilemma trouble but could work out.

I'll play. I believe there is a request for a "fairer" galaxy shape. Perhaps ring again?
I thnk there is problem with player distribution, whatever shape is played - it always seems as if all players are distributed towards upper right hand corner. In all 3 games I played, it seemed to be always busier in that direction - may be wrong and others may see it differently.

Nothing in the code or in my playing experience seems to point in that direction.

Even if there such issue exists I shuffle player list before use it.

+1
daybreak, you can also simply start some games with different shapes and seeds and build supertesters to see the galaxy to have a look at where everybody is placed.
Any code or patches in anything posted here is released under the CC and GPL licences in use for the FO project.
The scripting for empire placement is checking for 2 things. Not within x jumps of another empire, where x depends on universe size. 2nd is a minimum number of planets within y of empire.
