Right now it is something around 96 hours, to help players on holidays etc. to not miss many turns (read the four messages starting from this one: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=11274&start=300#p96790).

But this is not about requirements. I like to play this game, way more against people, and if we all can play faster I'll be happy. If we cannot, I won't be unhappy, it's just a game (and for what really matters these days, playtesting, we are doing great). So please, don't think I expect you to connect more often or follow some rules about frequency.

I guess the problem is what you pointed (bandwidth? CPU? RAM?): your client downloads the new game state, which maybe takes a lot of space (like save files can). I've been the last one this time and it took about 5 seconds with a 300 KB/s connection on a fair laptop (i5 with 8 GB). I imagine slow connections and computer can rise those 5 seconds up to 5 minutes.

Ok folks I am going away for four days. I might miss one turn if Oberlus comes back but may not if I get the full 96 hours or whatever we're set to now.

Thanks for the notice, and enjoy your time away if you're able.

As far as missing a turn, i don't have an issue with extending the deadline for people who let us know they are going to be away.

o01eg, after the next turn processes, can we extend the deadline for Magnate?

No need to extend turn time if it's still 92 hours (which I hope It is or I'm missing several turns already)

I've reset turn counter so we don't miss neither Magnate nor Oberlus.

Hi all. From early this morning (12 gmt) until just now, i was unable to access the game. I would start the client, select "multi server", choose the -lt game, and it would hang. After 5 minutes i'd kill it and start again. Same result. After three tries, i gave up.

That may have something to do with what Obelus noted:

Ok, i did enter orders, did click on the turn button, and it now says "revise orders 41". The message box says:
Begin Turn 41
Waiting for Other Players
Executing Orders
Colonization, Invasion, and Scrapping
Fleet Movement
Downloading and Unpacking New Game-state
It's been sitting for a few minutes....

And, finally, after about 4-5 minutes, it has indeed presented me with turn 42.

Definitely one of the cases where i'd have left the game before seeing results if it hadn't been for the earlier messages.

Haven't checked recently. It's a cable modem supplied by Spectrum as ISP, feeding a 5ghz router. Not slow, but I guess could be faster.

Later on I'll try to do the speed test.

According to an "internet speed test":
0.81 Mbps download
0.21 Mbps upload
Which is kinda slow. Two other test servers claimed between 5 and 8 mbps download. So, apparently it's variable, and not wonderfully fast, but it should be enough to support a small game like this one, yes?
