I suppose I postpone the game for a week. Maybe we'll get more than 3 players then.

Hey LR, could you confirm you'll be playing? We could start already I think if you're on board

I set SPIRAL_2 so I get 2-arm spiral for 4 players. Will we get some SPIRAL_<n> to have required number of arms?

The modified spiral generation still takes number of arms as parameter, so spiral 2 gives two arms, spiral 4 gives four... So if we are 4 players, select spiral 4?

Ultimately I would like this to be separate, single selection, that automatically adjusts number of arms based on number of players, but it's not there yet

I guess that I can play, yes, as soon as the snap is ready.
When do you expect to start ?

Yeah that's the proposed shape in general

However, how many systems is that? I think I was testing with 240 (60 per player) and what I see on your screenie seems like more maybe? Would be somewhat worried if that isn't too many systems individually per arm/each player, and players getting positioned more to the middle than to arm's end, so maybe would need to tweak that the middle is bigger or arms thinner or something, haven't really explored how something like that could be parametrized automatically

What does it mean 1/2 game?

The spiral can be made to have 5 or 6 arms but it would need to be hardcoded currently in the function (whatever "arms" is, make it arms=5 for example) tho need to confirm if other params still make sense (have played more with arithmetic version than the logarithmic one)

Here is 56 per player so 224 total.

I found code which chooses number of arms and it simple to just use number of players there. I wonder if to introduce it to upstream as SPIRAL_PLAYERS galaxy shape setting.

He has previously played at the start of the game, then ended up too busy to finish. Was just a thought, its probably easier to just start it with 4 players. Penta-shuriken galaxy probably looks a little strange anyway.

To me the more the marrier, and 5 armed spiral looked fine to me, I even made the starting rotation so a single arm was on the bottom and two on top, for that extra pentagram feeling 🐐

3 armed looked weirder but I guess Sicily disagrees

It could be read as bit sarcastic but if you'd be down to continue Ophiuchus game once he had enough then I guess why not, the early game is frankly most interesting to me cause of all the unrealized possibilities.

The snap is ready I gather, there is even mp27 channel I think? Look at the "latest snap" thread:

I am afraid I am not even able to do a 1/2 game. If I had time I would rather go and implement pedia displaying valuerefs for selected, the death stack nerf by oberlus, and have a try implementing pre-combat effects.

Snap channel is latest/beta/slow-game-027

Hi guys,

I kindly ask you: would you pleeease use fighter damage scaling 5 instead of 6 to see where the weapon balance ends of?
(see Are carriers too cheap? for wall of text).
I think that would really help to get good feedback.

Thank you

On another note: I upgraded the slow-game-027 snap after seeing in o01egs signature that the server was upgraded.

@o01eg, what is the policy? keep the snap upgraded until the game is started? and then only upgrade when you tell me/see it in the signature?
